Ed Sheeran’s hit “Shape of You” has been dominating Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Which isn’t surprising for anyone who’s spent most of the year trying DESPERATELY to escape it.
“Shape of You” has spent 33 weeks in the Top 10 on the Hot 100, and that’s a record. No other song has been in the Top 10 for that long…dating back to the chart’s inception back in 1958.
The song debuted at #1 back in January and it hasn’t left the Top 10 since.
The previous record was held by both The Chainsmokers and LeAnn Rimes. “Closer” by the Chainsmokers spent 32 weeks in the Top 10 last year, and LeAnn’s “How Do I Live” did its 32 weeks back in 1997.
“Uptown Funk!” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars was in the Top 10 for 31 weeks a couple years ago, and “Smooth” by Santana and Rob Thomas did it for 30 weeks back in 1999.
