Scientists are no doubt working around the clock as we speak to figure out how the power of Oprah was not enough to overcome “Black Panther”.

Her new movie “A Wrinkle in Time” opened with $33.3 million, but that was only good enough for second place.

“Black Panther” made another $41.1 million in its fourth week.  It’s now up to $562 million in the U.S., and over a billion worldwide.

But there’s at least one thing Oprah can be happy about:  The top two movies in the U.S. were directed by African Americans, and that’s a first.  Ryan Coogler did “Black Panther”, and Ava DuVernay directed “A Wrinkle in Time”.

The horror sequel “Strangers: Prey at Night”, finished third, with $10.5 million.
