Can Math Predict Which “Game of Thrones” Characters Will Die

We’re still a year away from the return of “Game of Thrones”…so a data scientist decided to create a complex algorithm to see if math could help predict who will sit on the Iron Throne at the end of the final season.

Obviously, it’s impossible to say where they’re really taking the show without inside knowledge…especially since the show has outpaced George R. R. Martin’s books.

But to rule the Seven Kingdoms, you have to not die…so the data scientist used models and ‘machine learning’ techniques to predict who dies in the final season…considering things like what house and culture a character belongs to, their title, gender, nobility status, age, and if any of their relatives had died.

He plugged in over 2,000 characters…but he focused on 10 who have a good shot at the Iron Throne.

Can Math Predict Which “Game of Thrones” Characters Will Die in the Final Season? – The Bert Show

1.  Daenerys Targaryen, 83.8% chance of death

2.  Jaime Lannister, 72.9%

3.  Tyrion Lannister, 70.8%

4.  Bran Stark, 66%

5.  Cersei Lannister, 60.4%

6.  Jon Snow, 59%

7.  Euron Greyjoy, 55%

8.  Sansa Stark, 50.3%

9.  Arya Stark, 49%

10.  Gendry, 39.9%

Of course, no matter what kind of math you use, it’s a fictional show in its final season that doesn’t necessarily have to follow any patterns, even its own.

The show could literally bring Morgan Freeman in as God…have him kill everybody…and just walk over and sit on the throne.  It’s not very likely, but it’s possible, I guess.
