Harvey Weinstein To Turn Himself In On Sex Crime Charges

Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein is expected to turn himself over to authorities in New York on Friday to face charges relating to an alleged incident of sexual misconduct in 2004. Lucia Evans told investigators that the disgraced Hollywood mogul forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004. Because of the nature of the allegations, there is no statute of limitations.

Weinstein's fall from grace started after a New York Times article detailed multiple accusations from numerous women accusing him of sexual assault. After the article was published even more women came forward sharing their stories of sexual harassment over the years.

The article sparked the #MeToo movement which has illuminated a culture of sexual harassment across the entertainment industry. Accusations have since been levied against big-name stars such as Kevin Spacey and most recently Morgan Freeman

Weinstein is also under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department for alleged sexual misconduct. Three cases have been sent over to the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, which is investigating the claims.
