The Men of “Arrested Development” Are Apologizing

Jason Bateman took some heat for defending Jeffrey Tambor during an “Arrested Development”cast interview, where Jessica Walter said that Jeffrey had verbally harassed her on the set.

Jason has apologized in a series of Tweets, which included him saying, “I realize that I was wrong here…I’m incredibly embarrassed and deeply sorry to have done that to Jessica.  This is a big learning moment for me.

“I shouldn’t have tried so hard to mansplain, or fix a fight, or make everything okay.  There’s never any excuse for abuse, in any form, from any gender.”

Tony Hale and David Cross were also criticized for downplaying Jeffrey’s abuse, and they’re also apologizing.

Tony said he’s reached out to Jessica personally to apologize, and David talked about the situation at length with “The Gothamist“, and said he’d also apologize to her for their behavior.

Interestingly, he also suggested that Jessica lost her temper with “an actress,” but that she apologized.  But he said Jeffrey’s blow-up was a bigger deal.
