1 of 16 Meet Apollo - SPCA of Texas
Meet Apollo, a 2½-year-old, male Mixed Breed dog weighing 43-pounds. He’s a sweet, shy guy looking for a home of his very own. He came to the SPCA of Texas from a cruelty case in 2019. Due to his past, he can be fearful and shy in new situations but warms up quickly. Once he gets to know you, he is just SO excited to see you! In his foster home, he was friendly and well behaved around visitors- everyone loved his hilarious facial expressions! He seems to be completely house trained, and left alone uncrated, he didn't make any messes or tear anything up. He does really well on walks and rides well in the car, too. He would do best in a home as the only dog. If you’re looking for a loving boy to spend time with, he’s the one for you! Apollo has been neutered, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. In an effort to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread to more people via gatherings of people and protect the health and well-being of the animals in our care, our staff and volunteers, as well as our community, the SPCA of Texas is closing our shelters to the public through at least Sunday, April 5. We will continue to offer adoptions on an appointment basis, as we continue to have many wonderful animals in need of new homes. Customers are allowed to meet up to three animals per appointment. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet a dog or spca.org/catadopt to make an appointment to meet a cat. Appointment hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m daily. Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash. Call 214-742-SPCA (7722) or e-mail spca@spca.org.
2 of 16 Meet Freckles - SPCA of TEXAS
Meet Freckles, an 11-year-old, female Shepherd mix weighing 53-pounds. She has a short, smooth coat that is mostly white with touches of charcoal on her eyes and little grey freckles on her face – hence her name! With perky triangle ears, brown eyes and a curled tail, she’s quite the cute little lady. She can be shy around new people, but has gained a lot of confidence since coming to the SPCA of Texas. She’s working on learning to walk on a leash, trusting people and making friends with other dogs. She would love a calm, quiet home where she can continue building her trust with people and take it easy. She’s sweet, gentle and affectionate once she gets to know you, and will be a loyal and loving girl to anyone who gives her time to settle in. If you’re looking for an older lady to enjoy quiet time with, she’s the one for you! Freckles is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet her.
3 of 16 MEET January - SPCA of Texas
Meet January. January is a female Retriever/Labrador mix and is 2½ years old. She is a medium-sized dog with the most beautiful shiny brown coat with white on her chest and chin and weighs 32 pounds. January has had a rough life; she was one of 20 dogs seized from a hoarding situation. X-rays revealed metal fragments on various parts of her body from gunshot which caused blindness in one eye. She is heartworm positive and is currently on activity restrictions. January will need special attention as she is very timid, but is learning to trust people. She may flinch when you touch her and she is sensitive to noise. She needs a home that is quiet and calm and has a fenced back yard. She also needs to live with adults only. She is on medication, so her adopter will need to administer her meds. If you’re looking for a sweet little gal to be your couch companion, January is the one for you! She is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney.
4 of 16 Meet Cooper - SCPA Of Texas
Meet Cooper, a male, 7-year-old Shepherd mix weighing 55-pounds. He came to the SPCA of Texas almost a year ago. He and his rescue mates were living on an abandoned property in the middle of nowhere, so he was not familiar with people at all. It has been an extremely long road for him to get to trust humans, as he used to only lay on his bed, wanting nothing to do with people. Though still fearful, he is now quite the social butterfly, and as you can imagine, has stolen most of the staff's heart. He would love a calm, quiet home where he can settle in and learn what being a family pet is all about. He would do best with older children since he can still be a little unsure around lots of activity. He loves other dogs, and would do best if there is another dog with him in his new home to show him the ropes. Cooper is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.
5 of 16 Meet JJ - SPCA of Texas
Meet JJ, a male, 1-year-old Shepherd mix weighing 22-pounds. He came to the SPCA of Texas through a cruelty case and was so frightened when he arrived! Thankfully, he found an awesome foster mom who helped him learn how to be a dog. He still has some progress to make, but he’s now on the hunt for a forever home. Once he opens up, he’s a ball of fun! He loves playing in water- the water hose is his favorite thing ever. He also met a turtle in his foster home and they were best friends! He is incredibly silly, so he’s sure to put a smile on your face. Thankfully, he doesn't need anyone to entertain him- he can do that all on his own. Either with toys, or his four-legged friends. He would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard, adults only and at least one other canine friend. JJ is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.
6 of 16 Meet Gertrude & Stefan - SPCA of Texas
Meet Gertrude, a female, 2-year-old, Doberman Pinscher mix and Stefan, a male, 2-year-old, Doberman Pinscher mix. These two big, beautiful pups have sleek black coats, floppy ears and the characteristic narrow Doberman snout. That’s not all they share – Gertrude and Stefan share a whole lot of love for each other! They’re the best of friends, and the SPCA of Texas has pair bonded them so that they must find a home together. They can be a bit timid around new folks, but once they get to know you, they are huge sweethearts! They love to play together, cuddle and spend time outdoors. They are searching for a home with a large, fenced backyard where they’ll have plenty of room to run and romp around together. They’d do best as the only dogs and would prefer to share their home with teen and adult humans only. Gertrude and Stefan are waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.
7 of 16 Meet Roger - SPCA of Texas
Meet Roger, a male, 5-year-old, Hound mix weighing 52-pounds. He has a rusty red coat, big floppy ears and the cutest puppy face you have ever seen! He can be shy around new people, but with time and treats, he’ll be your best friend in no time! He’s a gentle fellow who would love a home with another friendly pup who can show him the ropes. He would prefer home with a yard and with older kids who can be patient with him while he settles in. He has so much love to give and will be the perfect boy for a laidback family looking for a snuggle pup! Roger is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.
8 of 16 Meet Mortica - SPCA of Texas
Meet Morticia, a 6-year-old Shepherd mix with large, pointy ears and beautiful brown eyes. Like her namesake, the matriarch of the Addams family, Morticia is dark and mysterious, but with a good sense of humor and a creative way of showing affection. Morticia likes to stick her head under your arm to feel safe and loved, something she didn’t get much of in her previous life. She is also a huge fan of butt scratches and, as you can see from her plump figure, treats. Morticia loves her doggie buddies, and would love to meet any doggie siblings in the home at your meet and greet. She’s pretty timid and definitely not a fan of the leash yet, so she’ll need a fenced-in yard to do her business in. A laid back household with older teens and adults would be the ideal environment for her to thrive in. Sweet Morticia is waiting to meet you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Interested adopters can take her home for a trial adoption for a few weeks to see if she is a good fit for your home. To make an appointment to meet Morticia, please visit spca.org/adopt.
9 of 16 Meet Oswald - SPCA of Texas
Meet Oswald! He’s a 3-year-old, Mixed Breed pup searching for a new home. If his ears don’t captured your heart, his big bright smile sure will! Oswald has been through a lot in his life, so he’s pretty timid around new people and new situations. He did recently get to spend some time in a foster home and loved trotting around his foster mom around the house – we’re not really sure if he is just curious or likes to be around in case anyone needs his help. Oswald is both crate trained and house trained, and responds well to both praise and a gentle “no.” While quiet and shy, Oswald is attentive and eager to please his human friends. He would love a home with a fenced-in yard, as he’s still learning how to walk on the leash. He’s making it further each day, but it will take quite some time before he’s ready to go on walks around the neighborhood. Oswald would prefer a quiet home with adults, and he would love to meet any potential doggie siblings before he goes home with you. He’s currently available for a trial adoption, meaning you can take him home for several weeks to give him time to settle in and see if he’s a good fit. Cooper is waiting to meet you in a SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. To request an appointment to meet Oswald, please visit spca.org/adopt.
10 of 16 Meet Midnight - SPCA of Texas
Meet Midnight! He’s a 4-year-old, 46-pound Chow mix who is going to be a delightful, loyal pal to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him! Midnight does a wonderful sit, and is working on shake – although sometimes he can’t fight back his urge to turn it into a hug! He’s an active, curious dog who would do best in a home with an active owner who will take him out for daily exercise and play. He can be a bit timid meeting new people, but as soon as he sees the bag of treats in your hand, his whole face will light up and he’ll do his very best to impress you! Midnight is looking for a home where he can be the only dog, and with older teens and adults in the home. Midnight is super playful but also enjoys a good cuddle and head scratch. Midnight is waiting for you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. To request an appointment to meet him, please visit spca.org/adopt.
11 of 16 Meet Ruby - SPCA of Texas
Meet Ruby, a 6-and-a-half-year-old Terrier mix. She’s a sweet and loving pup with a big heart! She’s experienced living in a home and has quite a few skills on her resume, including sit, stay, come, down, and fetch. Ruby is crate trained and house trained, and rides well in the car. This affectionate, sweet dog absolutely loves kids of all ages, and was an attentive and gentle big sister to an infant in her previous home. Ruby gets along fantastically with cats and loves to snuggle up with them on cold nights. Ruby would prefer to be the only dog in the home as play time can get overwhelming for her, but she’s friendly to other dogs passing by on her walks. Ruby loves when her human friends dress her up in cute outfits so she can pose for photos, and her goofy personality is hard not to fall in love with. Ruby is ready to protect your home from pesky squirrels and take over your favorite spot on the couch for her own. If you’re looking for a great, feline-friendly family dog, Ruby would make a wonderful addition to your home. Ruby is spayed and up-to-date on all vaccinations. To make an appointment to meet Ruby, please visit spca.org/dogadopt.
12 of 16 Meet Oso - SPCA of Texas
Meet Oso, a 7-year-old, Labrador Retriever mix looking for love in time for Valentine’s Day. He’s a sweet, gentle fellow who enjoys the finer things in life like naps, quiet time and thoughtful conversations with his favorite people. He can be shy at first, but he has a lot of love for the people he knows. He’d like to find a family who shares his gentle nature and would prefer a home with adults and young adults age 15 and older. He’ll be the perfect partner for laidback nights filled with reading books, watching movies or playing games. He seems to get along with other dogs, but bring any pups you already have to meet him to make sure that they get along. He’s even eligible for a trial adoption, which means that you can take him home and see how he does with your family before making things official. If you’re looking for senior gentleman to love, he’s the one for you! Oso is waiting for you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. To request an appointment to meet him, please visit spca.org/adopt. Adoptions will be available by appointment. 13 of 16 Meet Anya - SPCA of Texas
Meet Anya! She is a beautiful, 7 ½-year-old Shepherd mix with some interesting quirks. The most unique thing about her is her love for TV! Her second favorite activity is to sit with her stuffed toys and watch television while she plays with them. But her absolutely favorite thing in the world is to zoom around the backyard with her doggie buddies! Due to her rough start to life, she’s a bit of a chicken, but is getting much braver and has learned to love her walks. She has made amazing progress in her foster home and her confidence continues to improve. Anya would do best in a quiet home with a doggie sibling or two, and no children, as the little ones can overwhelm her. This sweet girl is sure to warm the hearts of anyone who meets her. Anya has been spayed, microchipped and is current on all age-appropriate vaccinations. She is waiting to meet you in an SPCA of Texas foster home. To request an appointment to meet Anya, please visit spca.org/adopt.
14 of 16 Meet Cinco - SPCA of Texas
Meet Cinco, a 3-year-old, American Pit Bull Terrier mix. He came the SPCA of Texas as a stray in July, so the staff doesn't know much about his history, just that he’s a handsome sweet boy! He’s spent some time in the staff offices and he was such a happy dog. He liked playing with toys, meeting new people, and getting lots of love and cuddles. If you want a snuggle pup, he’s your guy! He would love a house with a backyard, but he’d be okay with a low traffic apartment where he doesn’t have to walk by too many other dogs. They make him nervous, so he'll need to be the only pup in the home. He’s a friendly, fun-loving guy who will be sure to put a smile on your face and be the best buddy ever! Cinco is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.
15 of 16 Meet CJ - SPCA of Texas
Meet CJ! He’s a 1½-year-old, Black Mouth Cur mix with a great personality! He spent some time in a foster home, and he showed that he is a funny, curious boy who loves to explore and play with toys. He came to the SPCA of Texas last year through their Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit, so he did not have the best life before. He can still be a little scared in unfamiliar situations, but he has come a long way. CJ would thrive in a home with another dog as his buddy – he just loves hanging out with friends, and they really bring out his confidence! He’s quite a smart pants, and has learned tricks like sit, come, stay and down from the staff at the shelter. This goofy, lovable sweetheart is sure to be a loyal companion to anyone willing to give him a chance. CJ is waiting to meet you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. To request an appointment to meet CJ, please visit spca.org/adopt.
16 of 16 Meet Dilly - SPCA of Texas
Meet Dilly! She’s a 6½-year-old Shepherd mix with a pretty face and a loving nature. The 50-pound lady loves people and enjoys a good scratch session from anyone who is willing to lend a hand! She is happy meeting new people, making new friends and spending time outdoors. In her previous home, she got along fine with children ages six to ten, and she did well with just about all people she met. She’s a mostly calm and laidback gal who doesn’t mind being a couch potato, but she sure will do tricks in exchange for treats! In fact, she knows how to sit, stay, lie down and even give kisses on command! Dilly would do best with other dogs similar in size, as she can get a little too excited around small dogs or cats. If you’re looking for an easygoing pup to spend time with, she’s the girl for you! Dilly is waiting to meet you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. To request an appointment to meet Dilly, please visit spca.org/adopt.
