The story of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's early romance is pretty well known by now. The pair were set up by mutual friends on a blind date back in July 2016. During their engagement interview, Meghan revealed they met for a drink and hit it off right away. "I think very quickly into that we said, 'Well what are we doing tomorrow? We should meet again," she said. The rest, as we all know, is history.
Nearly three years after their first date, royal biographer Angela Levin is spilling some new royal tea about the early days of her relationship. According to her new book Harry: Conversations with the Prince, the Duke of Sussex was dating model Sarah Ann Macklin when he first met Meghan.
Levin reports that Harry and Sarah Ann also met back in 2016 while attending the same private party. The two swapped numbers, exchanged texts and went on a few dates. Their romance never developed into anything serious, though, and Levin writes in her book that ultimately "it turned out to be just a fling."
Though Harry has not addressed this relationship publicly, it seems likely it came to an end quickly after he met Meghan. While posing for photos during their engagement announcement, a photographer asked Harry when he knew his fiance was the one. "The very first time we met," he replied.
Sarah Ann's Instagram seems to show her living her best life, as well, so it looks like everything worked out for the best.
