Netflix Unveils First Look At 'Selena' Series With Christian Serratos

Netflix's upcoming bio-scripted series about the life of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez has unveiled its first teaser for the 2020 series.

On Tuesday (November 12), the streaming giant unveiled a minute-long preview for Selena: The Series, which sees Walking Dead star Christian Serratos singing "Como La Flor," while getting into Selena mode by dancing in her living room, throwing on that iconic purple jumpsuit and putting on some red lipstick by MAC Cosmetics. The make-up company launched their own Selena tribute collection in 2016. Additionally, Netflix released the clip with both English and Spanish captions, pushing the star's heritage to the front of the project. Part 1 of the series is expected to drop in 2020.

"Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory," Selena's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, previously said in a statement. "With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives. We are excited to partner with Campanario and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come."

According to Netflix's press release, the Quintanilla family executive produced the show alongside Moisés Zamora, who wrote the script. As you know, Selena's legacy lived on after her death in the late '90s when Jennifer Lopez played the superstar in the 1997 biopic film, Selena.
