Zendaya Reacts To Her First Emmy Nomination: 'I'm Speechless'

Congratulations are in order for Zendaya!

On Tuesday (July 28), ABC hosted a livestream hosted by Leslie Jones to announce the 2020 Emmy Awards nominees. While the show will be going virtual this year as a result of the ongoing pandemic, all the nominees—including first timer Zendaya—are as excited as ever about being recognized. The 23-year-old actress is now a contender in the outstanding lead actress in a drama series category for her work on HBO's Euphoria.

"I’m honestly speechless, my heart is just overflowing with love and gratitude," Zendaya wrote on Instagram alongside a black-and-white photo from the Euphoria set. "I’m so incredibly honored to work beside the talented people that I get to call family. I am a small piece of a big beautiful puzzle and I’m so proud of all of you. Thank you to everyone out there who’s watched and given our show life...We out here Emmy nominated y’all!!"

It seems like Zendaya will have a lot of support heading into the awards show, as well. A number of her famous friends popped into her comments to congratulate her on the nomination, including Mariah Carey, Rowan Blanchard and Normani.

The awards show will air on September 20 with Jimmy Kimmel hosting the virtual ceremony. Will you be tuning in to see if Zendaya takes home the award?
