Sabrina Carpenter Admits Whether Her 'Diss Track' Is About Olivia Rodrigo

Sabrina Carpenter just revealed her new song “Skin” was written as a “diss track,” but denies actress-singer Olivia Rodrigo was her intended target.

On Sunday (January 24), The 21-year-old broke her silence on the so-called drama that embroiled her and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series stars Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett, 20, in an alleged love triangle.

“Thank you to everyone who has listened to skin 🤍 especially those who have opened their minds to lyrically what i was trying to get across. I wasn’t bothered by a few lines in a (magnificent) song and wrote a diss track about it,” Carpenter admitted, vaguely alluding to Rodrigo’s newly-released hit single “Drivers License,” which is speculated to be about Bassett moving on with Carpenter after the 17-year-old broke up with Bassett last year.

Speaking on whether "Skin" is about Rodrigo, Carpenter denied her song is "calling out one single person,” admitting that “some lines address a specific situation, while other lines address plenty of other experiences I’ve had this past year.. it also shows that many things have actually gotten under my skin..”

“I was at a tipping point in my life for countless reasons. so i was inspired to do what i usually do to cope, write something that i wish i could have told myself in the past," she explained earlier in her post. "People can only get to you if you give them the power to. and a lot of people were trying to get to me.”

The Girl Meets World star concluded her post urging fans not to “take this as an opportunity to send more hate anyone’s way.”
