Okay, here's one less thing to stress about right now.
Texans are getting an extended deadline to file taxes after the winter storm disaster. The IRS is giving residents and businesses an additional two months to file tax returns and pay owed taxes, making the new deadline June 15. Whew!
This includes 2020 individual and business returns normally due on April 15, as well as various 2020 business returns due on March 15. This also means that Texas taxpayers will have until June 15 to make 2020 IRA contributions.
Also note - Texans don't need to file an extension because the new deadline is automatic for anyone living inside the state.
